charging problem with microsoft universal keyboard

I have just bought new Microsoft Universal Keyboard. However, I have a problem with it. I found that the keyboard only work only with plugging the keyboard and will be dead when unplugging the cable. Can you help me with this? How to know that I charged it correctly (just in case if it is my mistake)?


Please help....
